As American as apple pie. And that’s exactly the first item that Matt Gutta ever sold at the beginning of his auction career. A native of Monongalia County, West Virginia, Matt was raised by two hardworking parents who prioritized family and American values above all-else. And from the time of his first auction when he was only a teenager, Matt has never lost his love for the art of the auction.
18 years ago, Matt obtained his real estate sales license, selling property during his undergraduate studies at West Virginia University and continuing through law school at West Virginia University College of Law. Having developed an early talent for marketing and professional salesmanship, he earned his first “million-dollar” sales award at the age of 19. As a first-generation attorney, Matt founded Gutta Law, PLLC, and has worked tirelessly as a real estate, title and trust attorney in the representation of countless clients. Being known for his proficiency in his practice, he has even been enlisted to serve as an expert legal witness in real estate related cases.
Having never lost sight of his skill for sales and his passion for the auction, Matt founded Matt Gutta Auction and Realty Service, a full-service auction house representing clients in the sale of real estate and personal property throughout the state of West Virginia. As the principal auctioneer, he delivers an unmatched level of professionalism and success to his clients that is a direct result of years of hard work and experience.
Matt considers his greatest accomplishment as being a husband to his wife Shauna and father to their daughter Vivienne and son Vincent. Matt is an avid hunter and sportsman. He is an Eagle Scout, graduate of the Missouri Auction School and a West Virginia licensed Auctioneer and Real Estate Broker. Additionally, he is licensed to practice law in the State of West Virginia and admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.
PHILOSOPHY
“Get it sold! It’s simply about work ethic. That’s it. To wake up early every morning and not stop until the job is done. Promote the heck out of the property and get as many people competing to buy it as possible. Having great communication with my clients is a wonderful advantage. Keep in great contact with them and always be available to answer their questions. Get it sold for the best price possible without aggravation and hassle…
I sold my first property nearly two decades ago. I participated in my first auction nearly a decade before that. And what I know from my experience as a sales professional, an auctioneer and a lawyer is that both buyers and sellers are tired of the hassles that come along with the traditional buying and selling process. They are tired of drawn-out negotiations. They are tired of muddling their way through confusing contingencies. They are tired of poor communication. They are tired of deals that fall-through. Our auction method solves these problems in a beautiful and efficient way.
So the goal is this…to leverage my experience and unmatched work ethic to obtain the best results for my clients. It’s not difficult…I wake up early, answer the phone and get it done.”
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND NETWORKING
As an Eagle Scout, Matt is no stranger to community engagement. Matt believes that involvement in community is more important now than ever before in West Virginia. He serves as a commissioner with the Monongalia County Building Commission and also serves as a Monongalia County fiduciary commissioner. Through his work as an attorney, he has committed countless hours of pro bono legal services to organizations throughout the state. It is through such engagement that Matt has developed a network of families, clients, businesses, lenders, community leaders and other organizations throughout West Virginia that recognize and support his work.
